Re: Gravel biking’s early origins.

Next thing we know someone will introduce front suspension, then rear suspension, then trail design will change, different gravel genres will develop, and old guys will be talking about the good old days of gravel🤔😁

Re: March 14 - Big Terra Nova Clockwise Loop

The 'feels like' temp shows -8 out Sooke way mid morning. The Weather Network hourly. Probably due to the high northerly winds. I'm going to see what it's like for wind in the am and make a call then. 7:30 at the SB if I'm in.

Ron, titanium?, 650b wheels, hum... your propensity for dirt and maybe bike packing, looking forward to the unveiling.

Re: March 14 - Big Terra Nova Clockwise Loop

The route looks good Ron. I like the Humpback route back as it eliminates the Goose grind home. I wonder about the creek crossing half way up Sooke Mtn. Trail. I think it is South Charter River. A couple of weeks ago it was running quite high and fast. I understand in the summer it involves walking ...

Re: March 14 - Big Terra Nova Clockwise Loop

My son rode the clockwise route yesterday (except for off shoot on the Mt. Quimper trails), he said it was pushing the bike up most of the Grass Lake trail as it was steep and full of large rocks, and the route across the top of Shields Lake was pretty wet and so many trees down he just walked it. C...

Re: March 14 - Big Terra Nova Clockwise Loop

It may make the day longer but I would propose after hitting the Sooke Rd. going over Humpback Rd., Langford Lake, over the Leigh Rd. overpass, Florene Lake and meander back to the Phelps Connector. It doesn't add much mileage, just some climbing:). Whatever the group decides. We may need refreshmen...

Re: March 14 - Big Terra Nova Clockwise Loop

I'm in, unless something changes. A couple of weeks ago I attempted to go up the Sooke Mtn Rd. to Shield Lake with the idea to come down Terra Nova. There was a water crossing mid way up that was too high and fast flowing to cross so we dropped back down to Charters Trail that crosses a new foot bri...

Re: Van Isle Traverse

That looks great. It would be nice to find another route from the end of Lake Cowichan to Port Alberni as it is a big industrial road and kind of boring. Maybe up to Nanaimo Lakes and connect to Cameron Main though it would likely mean lots of climbing and it doesn't seem to be something people talk...

A Facebook post indicated 200 riders have taken advantage of the early bird registration. 3 months left for some gravel hill repeats... Looks like we have 4 confirmed riders signed up. Should be a great day.

Re: Tugwell Main smooth or bumpy?

I'm not able to commit to a long ride like this for the next few weekends due to being out of town or other stuff. I'll monitor the site in case something changes up for me.

It looks good and I'm curious to see how it goes at the top of the Goose.
