Re: Eco Underground parking for bikes

I agree with Norm, 100% (minus his editorializing about various council members). This would be an egregious waste of money in a city where we are still so far from the saturation point of our bike parking needs that we'd need to start tunnelling underground.

Re: Sunday June 16, C

That was indeed a great ride! 139km door-to-door. You did a nice job of keeping us all together, Barton. Thanks to everyone for putting up with my crawling up the inclines and then cannon-balling the downhills. After dragging my carcass up those hills there was no simply way I was going to waste the...

D-Day Cycle Ride - Sept 4-8, 2019

This looks like an interesting event

My interest was piqued when I saw this photo yesterday in the Globe and Mail's D-Day coverage.

Re: TTT - Safety protocol?

Yup, the slower group (i.e. that is being overtaken) should simply holds its line. It is not their responsibility to get out of the way to make room for the overtaking group. If it's not safe to pass, then the faster group needs to back off until is it safe to pass safely.

To quote Mark Shepard from a few years ago, "I prefer IPA" to IBU (or EPO for that matter).

As for the other "hard stuff", I find it hard to joke about given the current opioid epidemic in Victoria.

Re: Goose/Lochside/E&N Safety PSA

+1 I've long maintained that the most dangerous part of our regular Sunday ride is the pre-coffee home-stretch on the Goose after Interurban. With the official ride and the final sprint being over, riders are often in chat-mode and paying less attention to the trail ahead - and to those with whom we...

And I really want him to respect his rest days; not enough of that in cycling.
Amen to that philosophy Lister. In fact, I took yesterday off as a strict rest day, too, after 20 3hr+ weeks.

And then there's this: https://hovding.com/, assuming of course that (i) you have $550 to throw around, and (ii) you don't mind wearing a 650 g horse collar.

Re: Aggressively fast cyclist wins race against no one

I've long maintained that the cops should bring a speed gun out on the Goose some morning or afternoon. I'm sure they'd nab a large number of people (including some in TSC kit) who think that their daily commute along a multi-use trail is actually a time-trial practice.
