Re: Spring 2019 Kit Order

Just a note that the kit try-on tonight (Fri Apr 5) will need to wrap up at 7pm. The Jakroo rep needs to leave 1/2 hour earlier than originally planned. Try to be there by 6:45 if you want to try stuff on.

Best,

Re: Helmets

When I was in Austria last summer I noticed that the lycra crowd wore helmets and the commuters didn't. Almost universally...though on a hot day some lycra riders would remove their helmet to climb. And there weren't protected lanes in the area I spent most of my time. Helmets don't make the differe...

Boomer's Legacy Bicycle Ride June 8-9

Hi Folks, This looks like a ride that some Tripleshotters might be interested in. The following is from a note that Jim Benninger, Chair of the Boomer's Legacy Ride, sent me: ***** For several years we have conducted a 240km Bike Ride (not a race) from Comox to Victoria and, on a couple of occasions...

Re: Tomorrow Morning (Fri) Skills Coaching

Update: Matt may go with the B2 ride tomorrow so as not to disrupt the Jill reunion/lovefest. If he does B2, then the pace will be a bit faster and the coaching will be "on the fly" so that it doesn't disrupt a nice morning ride.

You'll all work it out in the parking lot, I'm sure.

Ciao!

Tomorrow Morning (Fri) Skills Coaching

Hi folks, We're trying something new this year and bringing a Youth Team coach out to ride with the adults and give some skills tips. The idea is to give some feedback in the middle of a normal ride where people are just doing what they normally do including making some mistakes. And it gets lots of...

Re: Bike Tours ? Europe etc.

I did 9 days in Austria, self-guided last summer. I packed fairly light by staying in airbnbs and hotels and eating out. There's definitely an advantage to local knowledge. I ended up on freeways at times, lost most days, scrambling to find a room booking at 8pm, etc. But it was fun and doable if yo...

Re: Shimano 6770 10 speed front derrailleur

Craig now has 2 excuses to buy a new bike (the first one being that his son has gotten faster than him). If he keeps ignoring those excuses, we may need to do an intervention.

National Coaching Certification Program courses

It should be of interest to people who want to coach basic cycling skills in schools or the community more generally. There is also ...

Re: Can hurricane ridge be done in under 2 hrs?

The last time I did it was at a pretty brisk pace (for me) and my moving time up and back was 2:32. For some, it would be technically feasible to do it in under 2, but they'd be super fast and there's still time spent going through customs on the US side, plus the requirement to arrive X minutes bef...

Thanks for your continued advocacy for the improvement of multi-use trails and trail access, Lister. It's great for the young members of Tripleshot, as well as the young of heart members.

general safety

Hey folks, Each member has a responsibility to contribute to group safety by 1) honing their own skills; 2) making safe choices on rides; and 3) helping those around them to become better riders. Each year, the club tries to provide opportunities to help members do these things better. Here are some...

Re: Anyone interested in racing as a team this year?

I've talked to and emailed some people who I thought might be interested in this. About 17 men and women responded and said they have at least some interest--some are very interested. I think it's reasonable to expect that we'd have a core of at least 4 people in a typical early season VCL race, and...
