Cross Group Size

Crossers. Group size is arguably a bigger issue for CX rides than for road rides, because you're sharing narrow paths with walkers and narrow side streets with cars who don't expect to see large groups of cyclists when they come around a corner. You should be prepared to break up groups once they're...

Re: TRIPLESHOT KIT * STORE IS OPEN & Kit try-on*

Anyone else interested in bib-knickers? We can get them in the store, but knowing interest level is useful. Also Norman, there are knee warmers in the store if you want a cheaper way to extend your leg coverage. I'm going to wait a couple days to gauge interest in the knickers and then we'll put the...

I edited the post above. It's cancelled. Sorry Claire! We'll all commiserate at the AGM the following weekend?

Re: 2019 Annual General Meeting

The evening starts with beer and mingling at 6pm. We'll commence the formal AGM at 6:30. This should wrap up around 7:30. From 7:30 to 8:30 we'll hold an informal "town hall" style meeting to talk about club priorities and plans. 2019 Annual General Meeting Agenda (Sept 22, 6pm, Fernwood Inn) - Call...

Tripleshot Party at Mike's, Cancelled d.t. Weather

Well, we were tempting fate doing this in mid-September, and fate couldn't resist. The weather looks crummy for Saturday so we're cancelling the party. We'll do this next summer (thanks Mike and Anne for the offer this time and next!), probably in July-Aug, which are safer months weather wise. In th...

Tripleshot supports members on international stage

Over the summer, the Tripleshot Executive voted to provide a travel award of $500 each to Riley Pickrell, Heather Simonson, and Sarah Van Dam to mark their significant achievements in competitive cycling and to help them foot the cost of travelling to races in Europe. All three are club members who ...

Re: Springy B ride (not the weather)

The pedalling hard thing applies if the group is all together and if there aren't deer or sharp curves ahead. Sounds like this was a bit of an unusual situation, so my comments should be viewed as applying in general, rather than necessarily applying to this specific case.

Re: Springy B ride (not the weather)

My 2 cents... Quarterwheeling (wheels overlapping with the riders in front of you) is a bad habit generally, but can be OK in a pinch if a group is compressing and you want to avoid excessive sharp braking (which tends to magnify and get more panicky down the line). Sitting out to the side a bit can...

Re: Interested in Racing Cross?

I went to the first Broad Street Cycles clinic last night, and it was great. Really well run, with good instructors who broke things down nicely for us and then gave everyone some individual attention during repeated drills. About half the attendees (both instructors and students) were women. Almost...

2019 Annual General Meeting

The AGM will be held Sunday September 22 at 6pm at the Fernwood Inn (in the back room). We're trying the new location to encourage more people to attend. While there is Cross on the Rock on that date, the race is in Victoria so there should be plenty of time to get home and shake the mud off before ...
