Re: Annual Backpack Ride

Hi Heather. I don't think I ever saw an update on how our efforts added up on backpack ride day. Can you provide any info?

Re: 3 Ferry Ride - Let's do it!

Hey Jill & organizers. Just a heads up that the final ferry times you've quoted are incorrect (they are the Brentwood departure times, not the Mill Bay ones). The sailings on the third ferry (TO Brentwood) leave at 3:00, 4:10 and 5:20. Steve and I may see you in passing as we're thinking we'll eithe...

Re: Gravel Ride Planning

I just revisited this post and am buoyed by the enthusiasm and the helpful resources it offers, plus all the usual excellent support from Rolf and other gravel-loving club members. I do feel it's worth reviewing the "Forbidden cycling trails" map that Rolf shared from time to time to ensure we're al...

Re: 3 Ferry Ride - Let's do it!

Well, those sure filled up quick! I imagine a second running of the ferries ride later on would be well received. I'll hover over the 'attend' button more diligently next time!

TTTs tomorrow (June 11)?

Is it on—officially or unofficially? Just sussing out options for a morning ride. Ring road laps plus coffee outside might be nice...

Re: Group Riding during covid

This is all really good to know. But, as a painfully logical and process-oriented person, the uncertainty is really difficult. I don't just mean uncertainty of timing -- "When will CBC provide 'return to sport' guidelines?" "When will we be fully done with COVID and riding in ad hoc groups at the dr...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Thank you, Rolf! Rode it today in ideal conditions. Great route with a fun mix of "surprising" urban trails, flowy dirt paths and pretty country roads.

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Hmm... "except for km 44-48" indeed. I agree it's relatively ungnarly, but I wouldn't recommend travelling those bits on a road bike. If any intrepid roadies do take it on (I'm looking at you, Joe and Mikael), I hope their shoes are reasonably comfy for walking! p.s. Off-road surprises are fun. Like...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Nice route, Rolf! I like that you're getting people into fairly 'unknown' parts to the north. I'll actually be riding a lot of that tomorrow, in a commuting capacity. I'll try to repeat again for the full route on the weekend. What's your 'gnarly' rating on this one, should anyone ask?

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

I'm not taking anyone off the list. It's just a tally of who travelled the route. If I apply a solo-filter, it'll happen offline. This is starting to feel uncomfortable so I'm going to bow out of this thread. I guess there are varying interpretations of what's "okay" wrt group activities. I thought ...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

An idea on that note: what if each time someone does a route, they nominate the next person? So Claire would nominate #2 and so forth and each week or so we get a fresh challenge in place of the usual Sunday rides? #solosundays ? Sounds fun, but I don't want to put anyone on the spot. It'll probabl...

...please remove my from your ad hoc list. As you well know, I'm private on Strava, and I do not appreciate you trolling the Strava feeds of others, finding my name and putting it on your list.
Done. Though I did no "trolling". I follow other people and there were photos and things.

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

So much riding happening this weekend. I love it! Thanks to everyone who's taken on my not-so-little route so far. I added the cookies-as-prize idea to make it light and fun, but if anyone is not interested, it's totally fine if just having the adventure was prize enough! Also, if for COVID reasons,...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

I believe it's the latter, Martin. I've never done it, though, opting instead to memorize a route and glance at a map on the go if I need to confirm anything.

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

No, we shouldn't! I tried to come up with a clever name for this style of ride that would be work for future iterations, too - since, hopefully, mine will just be the first and not the only one. But, I was tired out from route-building (and pressured by a few to just get 'er done...ahem) so didn't g...

Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

I've posted a ride idea for a virtual group ride (but on actual bikes, outside) under the "Tripleshot Cycling" forum.

Check it out for something a little different.

Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Hello, Tripleshot friends. I've created a Strava route of just over 70km that I invite anyone to complete at their leisure to get a little taste of community while keeping with the spirit and practice of social distancing. If you did the StuckyLife route over Easter weekend, then you know how fun it...

Re: Why did YOU join Tripleshot?

I saw this thread back in the fall and had intended to chime in. It took until now (COVID-19 has been really good for catching up on nearly-forgotten to-do lists) to follow up. Hopefully others will share their origin stories, too. It's starting to feel like forever since the "normal days" of TS mor...
