Re: Bike Policy for CRD Parks

Thanks, Geoff! Petition signed; email sent to 14 CRD Directors. Easy! Following a link proffered on Geoff's SIMBS advocacy letter , I will also submit a delegation request to speak at the next CRD Parks & Environment Committee meeting, 625 Fisgard, next Wednesday Oct. 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. I intend...

Re: CrossFondo this Sunday- registration closes Thursday 11:59

Oh my goodness; you've clearly outdone yourself this year, Lister (along with your trail-building army)! This looks amazing. If anyone's on the fence about this event, jump down off it and come have a blast! Fish that old hardtail MTB out of the back of a garage, borrow your neighbour's unused cross...

Re: Wednesday 6am CX?

Alan is a very strong likely, and Dolly requested that you guys carry up Shelbourne a ways so she can meet you. Magnus: a typical FarmCross ride joins the regular Fairfield Farm Team (road) ride up Shelbourne, departing into the woods near Pkols (Mt. Doug) and meeting the roadies back in Cook St. Vi...

Re: Wednesday 6am CX?

I'm still out, Magnus. But I'm guessing others will be in. We haven't skipped FarmCross in a couple months now, I think.

Richardson and Richmond, depart at 6:05 sharpish. (With all the exploring you've been doing, I dare say you're ready to navigate, too. If there aren't other takers!)

Love those start-line videos.. watching Mary positively screaming past (before meeting her demise post-race), and seeing Mandy pull off that bad-ass pass. Bowen's colours were also resplendent.

Thanks, DD!

Bumpety-bump.

(Mary: I know at least you have some awesome shots of people pretending to smile while running up stairs...)

I'll be mostly off-grid until Monday night, so I'm putting this up early to facilitate your sharing of muddy smiles.

Re: Friday, Oct 11 - Cross Penance

Easy, Johnny: a small diversion on Plymouth instead of staying on Kendall to the reservoir footpath; barely missing the Doncaster footpath; and nearly ending up on the greens in the northwest corner of the CH golf course, are hardly grounds for violence. And Ronny: just learn the turns and leave the...

Re: Bob and Doug MacKenzie Bacon & Coke Hand Ups?

I was born to do this, Kim.

My best friend and I dressed up as Bob & Doug for Hallowe'en when we were 12. I can still remember the Oak Bay police checking our stubbies to make sure they were only filled with water.

Re: Invitation to the launch of the Bicycle Sportive Travel Club

The Attwell boys, Garth C., and Kevin F. recently joined new Club member Magnus V. on an MTB trip to Utah. I understand the trip was along the lines of the adventures Dave describes above. If you'd like to see a full gallery of stunning photos and video from their trip , it's on the TS Photos site (...

Re: PSA: Trigger Bell

What about a polite "hello, I'm on your left!" I always try to do that too! The bell’s for when you’re still too far away for the spoken word to carry. And for blind corners in the woods, or around urban structures. We came across a few walkers on the CHGC chip trail this morning and were moving sl...

Re: Farm cross?

It’s been quite a plague. Tomorrow morning will have to be a game-time decision for me. I’m highly motivated to get back on a bike; but if I’m hacking and wheezing into the wee hours again, I’m likely to stay in bed. If I make it out, I’ll stay with the Farmers up Shelbourne as far as Cedar Hill Rd....

https://media.giphy.com/media/QMZcxFc9bOJjO/giphy.gif Even your ostensible doppleganger’s lookin’ at you sideways, JT. Wasn’t the whole point of riding the CrossFondo as a team to take the emphasis *off* performance and put it back on fun? (Hint: Mt. Doug by road is the opposite of fun. :P ) I damn...

Re: Thanksgiving Sunday ride on a Monday?

Rob: with all due respect to the awesomeness that is COTR, I assume your family aren’t here to hit Nanaimo and enjoy “a large grass area with tight turns ... a long stair run up and two sand sections” EVEN IF they get to ride it 6-9 times in a row! I’m on Quadra Island this weekend, so can’t do any ...
