Re: How to CX down a hill

Never mind the excellent handling on a bike wholly ill-suited for such terrain, I wanna know where I can get a gimbal and/or camera OS that offers such a ridiculously smooth picture! :o

Nic and the Scotch Cross guys have ridden it lots, I think. (Not that that’s a clear indication either way!)

Oh jeez. With that kind of peer support/pressure, what real choice do I have?

Off to do some last-minute training...

Re: Laps at Beacon Hill

I believe the last time we agreed that when your laps are done you don’t tag on to other groups. Is that the case? I hear you Paula. This is how I feel 90% of the time when cyclocrossing with Rolf and Alan, Hey Alan: sounds like JT’s finally caught on to the fact we’ve been trying to ride away from...

Re: Sunday, June 16 - Metchosin Dads Ride

Dearest Tyre,

You dislike Metchosin (weirdo); I dislike Munn.

You’re training or something; I’m just looking to swoop the vectors and savour the sweet odours of ocean and Metchosin lamb.

See you at Fantastico.

Hugs...

Sunday, June 16 - Metchosin Dads Ride

Since there's no solstice ride this Sunday  and Dads get to do what they want, I'm doing my first road spin out to Metchosin in yonks*. Something pretty close to this , at about the same easy-but-not-too-easy, no-drop pace (c. 27.) Roll-out at 7:00 from Fairfield Plaza Starbucks, to enjoy the e...

Re: Mashby's mashup: My ride report

You flatted four times on one road ride? Sounds like the CrossFondo. Y'know, there's an easier way to brag about doing all that solo vert 15 minutes faster than mashby, JT: change your privacy settings on Strava. But then Mrs. Tyre might notice how many Uplands backyards you lurk in o...

Re: Wed June 12 farm-x. I see your hill and I raise you HILLS

a small amount of trail between the excruciating, tedious uphill road grinds You make it sound so appealing! :P Sorry, Mark. Hills are gross, unless one has a reason to train—in which case they're still gross but at least the pain isn't pointless. I aim to ride the regular old Farm road ride tomorr...

Re: Sunday, June 9 - Testament, Partridge Hills and some speed trails

I've got a special guest and won't be riding. Apparently I'm enjoying an unplanned, fallow period of fewer bikenings these days. Testament from Durrance to Willis feels a little more flowy than the reverse you've planned here; but frankly it gets to be a bit of a female dog both ways. Gorgeous fores...

Re: Volunteers for Robert Cameron Law Time Trial - June 7th

Full communiqué on the route changes here. Most of you are probably en route to volunteer, but here are a few tips for volunteering for this event: it's nearly always windy and colder than expected; bring extra layers in a backpack (it's also nice to wear Tripleshot stuff on the outside, so our clu...

2019 Hayman Classic - Junior Road Provincial Championships

Before we cheer on our Masters gladiators this weekend, let's take a moment to celebrate what the youth were up to a couple of weekends ago. (I always get such a thrill seeing young people gutting themselves in our Club colours.) Write-up: Jo Fox; Photos: Cody Gannon; Full TS Photos album (70+ shots...

Friday, June 7 - (Pearl) Jam to UVic

This week keeps getting weirder. After lauding the nineties all weekend and playing with related GIFfies on Tuesday, I was having lunch downtown Vancouver yesterday when Jason Priestley sat down on the same banquette and dined just inches off my elbow. I take this to mean Eddie Vedder will spontaneo...
