Re: Tues. Jan. 21: First come first serve.

If you gave us something more to go on than pre-meditated surface damage  and that Alan (probably definitely the hardiest guy I know) is too wimpy for your planned route   — some of us may actually clamour to be part of such an exalted foursome.   https://media.g...

Re: Jan 19 - Post Snow Ride

Riding will be a game-time decision for me in the morn. But if I make it out, I'll be cheering on Ace and JT as the choking ensues, Ron. Far from the gnar, Bear Mountain up and over is roadie training nonsense. Maybe we should just break out the slicks and stick our noses up each other's bums?...

I will also try to make OBH for 6. And then maybe head for Cook St. Village on salted terrain, arriving around 6:30?

We need extra coffee time to figure out how best to spend our last day on earth.

Re: Friday, January 19, 2020: coefficient of friction?

I was going to set up another poll asking who thinks Johnny Tyre meant to ask about riding: tomorrow the 18th, Saturday the 19th, or Friday, January 19th, 2018? But then I thought that might be petty and mean. What I *do* know, is that apparently it’s already a skating rink out there and, if anythin...

Re: May 2 - Ride for Water - Chilliwack

Propane? I am definitely not catching a ride with you. I applaud Ron's use of forum-echo . I think this event looks really cool. If life were a bit different, I'd like to train up for the Epic 130. But such things may have to wait for my idle fifties. I think I'll save my limited overnight bike-tri...

Re: Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

Alan, you were born to put the "personal" back in "Radio Personality"! The children and I will be huddled round the Magnavox wireless to hear your unique and colourful perspective. And Johnny Tyre, here's a ride edit from this morning: https://vimeo.com/rolfwarburton/snowride2020 It's a bit of a qui...

Re: Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

Ecchh! I forced myself to watch that to the end. I found Ms. Murray and her translucent trousers ... unhelpful. :| I will accept bona fide music suggestions until I go to bed tonight. :) That was ridonculous fun this morning. Thanks to those of you who were dumb or brave enough to come out! And than...

Re: Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

That's the spirit, Megan! Just like skiing, only with bonus hidden curbs... Todd: judging from the walk I just got back from, it's piling up pretty fast, and there's a decent amount of semi-frozen slush under the new stuff. I'd say it's an MTB-highly-advisable day. Or something with 2"+ tires anyway...

Re: Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

Yes, L3. I remember that horrible attempt at a frozen Pkols. But that was a few days after the fresh snow, when everything was shaped by walkers and then refrozen in deadly forms. Even the day right after the big dump was a bit tougher. The fresh snow day that preceded was golden. And conditions poi...

Re: Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

Can't you give it a rest, JT? Nobody's listening to your Chicken Little routine anyway... except some Swedish teenager with an Anger Management problem.

And anyway, it's freakin' cold out there! So the planet's doing tremendously.

I'm a maybe.

A) I don't want to fall, get hurt, and ruin a fantastic Sunday ride
Time to sell the bike and take up Fortnite, Ron? Or perhaps macramé? 8)

Falling in the snow doesn’t hurt! Just ask Alan... And the exquisite pleasure of fresh tracks does much to dull any lingering sting.

Re: Atrial FIb and Masters Athletes

Sooooo, attempting to follow an ultra-marathoner on a 100K+ gravel adventure in sub-zero, snowy conditions with over 2,000m climbing wasn’t listed as a risk factor to avoid?

Good stuff! :)
