Re: Thursday, July 18: Destinations unknown

I'd love to join you JT but Thursdays I have no kitchen pass. Hopefully you are still interested in riding CX Friday morning...

Re: How to CX down a hill

Ill suited? It's called underbiking. Kinda like if you could drive to work in a gas-powered go-cart with the pin removed.

Re: Sunday, July 14th - Hatley Castle Exploration UPDATED

I'm really curious about Mill Hill as this could make a nice connector into Hatley Castle. How verboten is it?

Sunday, July 14th - Hatley Castle Exploration UPDATED

I feel like going on a good CX ride to make up for my lazy explorations of Tofino. All riders, with no exclusivity, are cordially invited. :D I don't expect much in the way of hike-a-bike (famous last words I know) but I'm always up for nonsense: https://media.giphy.com/media/oWwh3BkVbumeA/giphy.gif...

Re: Friday July 12th

Sir Alan, I would have given you a resounding yes (My knees look entirely plain and boring) had I been in town. Alas, I was commuting back from Tofino at the time. I will be riding Sunday if you are so inclined. I feel a need to deep dive explore Royal Roads.

Re: Tzouhalem: Ride Report

Yes, and he was on his downhill mountain bike so his cross bike is just fine 🚲👍

We were quite the eclectic mix of cyclists: Downhill MTB, Hardtale MTB, and CXer (in Lycra). We turned a few heads on the trails. Mwahahahaha!

Re: Tzouhalem: Ride Report

Whoops, sorry JT. Since we are not connected on Strava: https://media.giphy.com/media/f7LUNRkeJC3zCxaMKR/giphy.gif You missed the details about who had the crash. It was our crash-prone banana supplier that took a spill. https://media.giphy.com/media/3kC75QIgf1mfu/giphy.gif I didn't take any pics of...

Tzouhalem: Ride Report

UPDATE Tzouhalem is quite rideable for CX. Some good climbs and blue/purple trails that are accessible. I didn't get to see enough of the area to be certain (ride cut short due to injury), but it seemed to have enough trails to make a good CX destination. And since it does not require an early ferry...

Paul, there is no stereotype of a CXer. I'm quite a fancy lad, for example, and enjoy a spot of tea whenever I can.

Re: Olympic Adventure Trail: Ride Report

Alan, we have just developed a new yard stick with which to measure rides against. It was that good. But I fear you may be correct and we are now forever ruined. But that's okay, 'cause nobody else rides cross anymore... Greg, I'm glad to hear that L3 got tuckered out. I saw that JT did a ride this ...

Olympic Adventure Trail: Ride Report

Woohoo!!! This is an excellent and very CX friendly route to take; and without an ounce of hike-a-bike. It felt pretty remote at times and we only encountered a few people on the trail. By the numbers: 88km 1,290m of elevation gain 5hrs 26min in the saddle The trails were almost all well-maintained,...
