When Eric and I fell it was at a spot on the road that was shaded by trees. How's that for a micro-climate? It was a sunny that morning, like today, and I'll bet it the road was plus 6 only 50 meters from where we went down. Isn't there some fancy software that will allow us to race against one anot...

My shoulder went through a honey bronze stage; right after red black and just before yellow green. The swelling has gone down exposing a sharp bump. Not pretty. But, it's getting better faster than I expected. I'll try to listen to the warnings about coming back too soon, but really can't see recove...

Hi again everyone, Thanks very much for the support. I'll see the x-rays tomorrow and if they're interesting, I'll try to post them. It's feeling surprisingly good this morning. I got myself dressed! Including socks! Ramsey phoned to say he's separated both of his shoulders in the past. That's great...

dave, your message prompted me to look. yes, the bike is knackered. shoot. interesting (i think) that the eight yr-old carbon fork blades, a mavic cosmos wheel (same vintage) and even the tire and tube look fine - they survived an impact that bent the alu steer tube enough to make the wheel/fender c...

typing one-handed - sorry, no upper case: the hole was bloody deep. stopped my bike instantly - well not quite. the wheel stopped, but the forks bent a cm or two, so i guess the rest of the bike kept moving for a few milliseconds. i went over the bars and hit the road on my left side hard. phys ed t...

Five went out on Sunday. We headed to Island View, but things were icy at Mt. Doug. We decided to head back along Blenkinsop (even more slippery). Thinking that the water-front would be best (warmer), we headed for the Uplands. All good until we hit the Cedar Hill X and Cadboro Bay intersection. I w...

I think we can learn a lot with this fox and hound game. One thing that's clear is that it isn't easy to keep track of people (a sprint start in the dark doesn't help). Perhaps a max. group size of eight and "disqualification" if you arrive at Beacon Hill with less than eight. Or, as Norm suggested ...

I like the idea. I had a great ride today even though I couldn't keep up at the end. Eric commented last week when he ran away with Lister and Bob that he was out of his league - but there he was! The only way to find out what you have is to take some chances. And, when a group (especially a group l...
