Re: Cobble Hill/Cherry Point Masters RR

I'd like to know how you do so well without a warm-up. I didn't have time either (and don't really know what to do if I do) and I blew up trying to stay with the 50s for 5km. Fortunately, I regrouped by head and heart and managed to claw back a few riders (and almost 2 more) before the end of the ra...

Re: Anybody want Tripleshot water bottles?

If I'm not too late I'll take 2 bottles.

Thanks, Marcus

Free Shimano MTB Shoes Size 40 (womens)

My wife has a pair of these shoes that she only wore a few times. If you would like them let me know.

Re: Naming our rides (my rant)

Love the rant Josh. To quote Laurent Fignon, "The cyclist who doesn't know how to lose can never be a champion". As a newer B/C rider I don't mind being called ABC, 123, or do re mi, nor do I have any resentment at all for faster riders. I just hope to emulate them. Like you though, I do like being ...

Lake Cowichan RR

So while the big dogs were at the IMC or TTT, Barry and I had a go at the Lake Cowichan Masters RR (65 km I think). I managed to hang on with 50s group for about 25 kms and even bridged a short gap at one point. And damn it was fun. Then we hit a small hill and I was off the back like me on Interurb...

Hurricane Ridge August 22

Turned out to be relatively pleasant - 44 F at the top at 10 a.m., warming up to an almost balmy 48 F by 11 with partly sunny skies and no rain. Only Kevin Ford, Brad Head and me from TS and about 10 Pro City folks. I think Kevin's time was 1 hr 9 mins to the top from the toll booth. Brad was going ...

Re: Hurricane Ridge August 22nd

I'm willing to go because:
(a) July 1 wasn't cold or wet enough,
(b) V2N2V didn't have enough elevation gain,
(c) I'm insane,
(d) TS rocks,
(e) all of the above.

Re: V2N and back

Thanks for helping out on the first mechanical Steve, and to Dr. Neil who had a quick link, and to Paul C. who ordered a tow truck on the second mechanical in Nanaimo and to Cory at OBB Nanaimo who opened the shop to install a new chain. I left OBB at 10:35 about 20 minutes after Glendowyn (sp.?) wh...

Re: The BBC is on to us!

So what's next? Omils? My favourite mamil tip especially today after the V2N2V: "Even better is the Mamil's solution to saddle sores. A teenage shop assistant in a too-posh-to-pedal London shop tried to sell me some balm for £30. What's the point of that, I asked. I've got loads of unused nappy rash...

Re: Hurricane weather

Crikey, I didn't mean to cause any panic in the jungle. I just wanted to let folks know to dress with more than leg warmers and an undershirt. Heck the overnight low is only predicted to go down to 38 so I plan on going.

Re: Sure miss you guys - miss my knees, too...

Hi Mike. Tough luck with the knee. I had one of mine scoped by Cecil Caines in Surrey about 6 years ago. Works great now but I don't have any pull to dodge the waitlist. My experience though was that if you identify the surgeon the referral can happen faster.

Re: Masters Metchosin Road Race June 27th

I echo Dylan's and Peter's comments - ouch and thanks. Also, I have a cautionary warning, if Peter is looking for volunteers, don't ride out to volunteer with your gear because the race organizers will not only conscript the club leader but also non-suspecting lower fitness level riders new to group...

Re: Metchosin Road Race Volunteers

Rita: Peter told me Volunteers meet at Hans Helgesen School (5015 Rocky Point Rd) at 11:15. We will assign corners to people onsite but the basic role is being a directional marshall at a corner.

I think I'll ride out. The switch at ten should leave extra time.

Re: Tues June 8th

This was my second ride on Tuesdays and I think my 5th group ride overall. This week the A- group was definitely faster than last week's B train which although it was just as much fun ate up the improvement in my fitness level. Thanks Steve for helping me get back at least to King George. I don't th...
