Re: New Kit Order: Fall 2018

Hi Neil; Having just taken a quick look, I saw a wind jacket and a rain jacket on offer - neither of which mentions the words "cold" or "fleece" in their respective item descriptions. Perhaps I just missed it, but does Jackroo offer an option for a cold-weather fleece-lined winter jacket? Thanks, J.

Don't talk while exercising

Interesting article on how people derive different levels of benefit from the same intensity of exercise: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/article-speaking-while-exercising-not-if-you-want-to-get-fitter/ Reminded me of when Lister used to yell "If you're on the front and you'r...

Re: Crash on Ash - deer collision

Hope you get well soon Malcolm! For the record - we've had several accidents over the years that involved collisions with "bambis". Typical scenario goes something like this: Momma deer enters the road. Riders see Momma and avoid her. About 5 seconds later, bambi #1 follows Momma onto the road, ofte...

Re: Tues A2 crash (or: How to add ventilation to your new kit in the most painful way possible)
Rich means to have it start down Caddy Bay (it already ends before the stop) so that the flying start into the beginning of the segment can happen after the idealistic stop at that corner four times.
Thanks for the clarification Claire. Rich's idea makes sense. While I've never thoug...

Re: Tues A2 crash (or: How to add ventilation to your new kit in the most painful way possible)

I am going to look into getting that segment deleted and replaced by one that starts 200 meters down road. Hi Rich; Presumably you mean 200m back down the road before the corner - which would certainly be helpful (writing as one who has never won a KOM in his life!). It adds yet another reason why ...

Re: Tues A2 crash (or: How to add ventilation to your new kit in the most painful way possible)

The left-hand turn onto Caddy Bay after the end of the Tuesday laps isn't much safer. We typically roll through on the basis of the lead rider yelling "Clear!" However, with it being a blind corner and particularly given the large group sizes that we get this time of year, it's not uncommon for a gr...

Re: Tues A2 crash (or: How to add ventilation to your new kit in the most painful way possible)

TSC has lots of history on that corner - most of it being the bad kind. At one point it was a yield sign, but now it's a stop sign. Back then, we used to roll through the yield riding two-up. A few years ago, when it changed to a stop sign, we decided to make it a single file roll through. In the in...

Re: Trail Project to connect Camosun to Francis King Park- Volunteers wanted

Makes me think we need adult draw prizes. I’ll start calling around, but post or pm me if you think you know a likely donor. I can offer an audio-book version of me reading aloud my most highly-cited research papers on zooplankton ecology. Oh, wait! You said you wanted prizes not penalties, right? ...

For some reason this whole TSCX Giphy phenomenon reminds me of one my favourite 80s bands...the Circle Jerks. Go figure.

Re: Canadian Master's National Road Race Championships

Note to Martin: if we're looking to save some coin on this year's post-of-the-year (i.e. after breaking the bank on engraving last year's brilliant polemic from Alex) we could just distill Heather's observations down to this: "Keep in mind that really a TT is basically get on your bike and ride. No ...
