Sorry to hear about the crash and injury John. Mend well and fast. Too bad too about the frame. I guess even the phoenix doesn't rise every time. But still, it could make the coolest grocery bike on the block with a new fork and carbon fibre wicker basket. Good to hear the steerer bent instead of br...

Happy new year all. I'm at Mt Wash. doing what one is supposed to do when it's winter: ski*. (*as in sliding on ice and snow on plastic meant for it, vs sliding on lycra not meant for it.) Not that much snow, but what's open is very good condition. I have discovered unused parts of my lungs. I think...

Kid's cross bike on ebay

Same as our Una's. It's been a great bike, with cross tires or road tires, fits fenders. You will need a US address though; only ships to lower 48.

Hey Galen, I'm glad they're not taking team photos this time of year. But maybe we should as the 'before' photo? On another note, all the party rental places are closed today (I thought drinking survived economic downtourns?) so we're missing punch/eggnog glasses. We have something that will work, b...

Glad you can make it John. You don't have to bring anything, but if you really want to, anything for the buffet would be great.

But leave the photo behind; it was in 'retro' and the less seen of that the better. :D

I see your fear of Wednesday climbing doesn't extend to exotic places. Or are all those weekend rides only? I was joking because I reckoned the thought of that much climbing would give you the heebie jeebies. Now don't go getting too climbing fit; I hate it when my TTT teammates thrash* on the hills...

I count 15 ahead of me. 14 bikes only? I think turning up early to steal a spot might be bad form. Maybe I'll come and rivet Pete's chain when he rips it off, and then come for coffee. PS If you're ahead of me on the list, and not going, can you let me know? PPS Hey Alan, I see you're 15. How about ...

You're worried about fruity? Have you seen our uniforms? All that's missing is crop tops and head bands...

How many can you take Lisa?

Edit, oops, I see it now. Can I have a spot?

Found the image. Eugene Christophe had to forge a repair on his fork in the 1913 Tour. Plus he got a 10 minute penalty for allowing a boy to operate the bellows for him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eug%C3%A8ne_Christophe And we think we're doing well when we change a flat or a chain. I wonder what ...

Tell me about it Jairus. I saw a bike at the UVic tri sale that was similar vintage to mine, for $259. I'm exagerating a bit, as mine at least have sti, but I think we spend more on coffee in a month than my bikes are worth. Ah well, you could always keep it and join the retro grouches like me and w...

Actually, I 've been looking for one of a cyclist in the 190? tour de france working the bellows, fixing his own bike in a blacksmith shop. But this will do until then. Thx Brian!

Lance had it wrong. It is about the bike.

wanted: Mavic MA2 silver rim 36 hole, or similar

Looking for a very low profile rim to replace an Mavic MA2 which is wearing out on the brake track. Preferably silver. (The existing spokes are too long for Mavic Open Pros, for example, and I'm too cheap to toss out perfectly good stainless spokes. I need the low profile to re-use the spokes. Ambro...

Well that was a bit different than I saw in my head. But it seemed most of the two groups had a hard ride by the looks of faces at the stop. What's the feeling? As we discussed, I think refinements might include smaller groups, or at least have the leader look back for dropped riders as they swing o...
