Re: Tripleshot 2010 Gear Order #1

I wrangled another contribution from my wife's law firm (Berge, Hart and Cassels) so you can put her firm back on the Jersey. It's not like they're getting any work out of this, but if it keeps me happy....they'll pay.

Re: Holiday weekend rides

Hate to add a further option for Monday but how about a regular Friday-type ride, meet at the usual place at 6:00am, ride hard for an hour, have coffee at the usual Mocha house and be home by 7:45 just as the family is waking up? Dave Spiers and I are in for sure, any other takers?

Re: Holiday weekend rides

I'm in --weather dependent. If it is worse than this morning (and It's hard to imagine a ride worse than what we endured today) I may opt to stay in bed. Frankly folks, I was thinking that for this morning's ride we'd get serious hard men of winter gloating points for riding in 50 kph winds, navigat...

Re: King of the Hill

Our protest (Dave Spiers and I) against Peter's new colossal climbing abilities is that we have pledged to do the Giro de Sardegna with unshaven legs. If we can even finish a European stage race with hairy North American legs, tell, me, who has won? (ps: check out Pete's girlie hill-climbing gams!)

Re: Did you guys survive?

I did the swooshing thing on Saturday, not before I rode my bike up to the top of the mountain (some other guy, who I recognized as being an Oak Bay rider saw me arriving in my Triple shot gear and thought I was a total basket case, bike covered with mud, etc.) The worst part was dealing with the nu...

Re: Did you guys survive?

I didn't have hands on the last 10 minutes of that ride, just frozen stumps at the end of my arms--couldn't shift, couldn't brake, could barely steer. What the hell was I doing out there? So, it wasn't pretty--but all well worth it for the hockey sock full of gloating points I earned by being one of...

Re: Saturday AM Race Training Ride?

I'll be out as well. I think it was John who told me some guys from the SpinDoctors might join the Saturday morning hammerfest. So there could be a good group going. See you at 5-dark-30.

yeah, and if Josh says he's cooked, imagine what it's like for the rest of us. As they used to tell us in the Airborne Regiment, "Pain is only a sign you're still alive..."

I'll be out on Sunday's ride to see if I can find my pancreas which I dropped somewhere along Interurban....

Re: Saturday AM Race Training Ride?

No problem Mike, I will speak for the group and say we'll go from the Cook St. Starbucks, stoked on Americanos, leaving by 6am and head down to Dallas, then take the usual route along the water to Matticks' farm, Sidney, etc. Which is to say, I'm in. Lister, don't worry about hanging on the back, by...

Re: GranFondo

Ok, under the persuasive influence of Dave Spiers, I signed up this morning for the Whistler Grandfondo. It says we need a minimum of five riders and a maximum of nine for a team. The question I have, is, who's in charge? Is it Jeff or Captain Stay Puf't?

I need some new wheels...

I'm in the market for a new set of wheels (new to me, perhaps surplus for you). The goal is get a wheelset that is lighter and more aero than what I've got now on my Trek (Velomax?) :? which are pretty well on their last legs. Maybe you've got a set of Dura Aces or Zipps that are lying around and ga...

Re: Testing Schedule

Mike Lawless backed out of his 10:15 slot because he had to go bike shopping on Saturday morning, so I am filling in for him at that time. Which is to say, there is now my old time slot, at 3:15 now open for the first taker. Send Pete Lawless an email and I am sure he can schedule you in. Cheers, Alan

Re: Christmas Party / Clothing Order

Seeing as I couldn't wait for Santa to arrive, I headed down to market square to get my new rig. Roland's workplace, for those who don't know, looks like a high-tech dungeon inhabited by metal heads and computer nerds. Lots of bikes in the hallways, just to make you feel at home. Anyways, What a bag...

Re: Winter Gloating Points for Matt

I can attest to actually witnessing the four hardy fools on their bikes screaming along Dallas road at 7am. I was out on Dallas road running with my wife in the rain--it's a foolish sport, running that is, really. Like cycling it involves moving one's legs up and down, but without a bike to cushion ...

Re: Threshold Testing (etc)

that date works for me even as a small nagging part of me is saying, "why the %!$$ are you bothering?" What adds to my growing suspicion is the point after all the fancy testing is where they say: "Your coach will evaluate your progression over time and training effectiveness." So Peter, Mr. Coach, ...

Re: Welcome to the new forum!

I seem to be missing my avatar. But what I miss most about the new site is the pictures of scantily clad maidens. I guess I'll have to settle for seeing scantily clad (mostly men) at 6am. I also found the weight loss ads enticing readers to "Lose weight, you loser" to be extra motivating...
