Re: Everesting

How about Sept 13th or 20th for the ride date depending on the weather? Inbetween I turn the big 35 and want to have a killer ride to cap my first real riding season since 2009.

Re: Everesting

Pretty funny Barton. Just did the math and to make the last ferry out of Port Angeles during the summer months you would have to average a bit more than 38.5 km/hr.

Re: Everesting

Read about this challenge a while back, http://cyclingtips.com.au/2012/05/mt-everest-in-a-day/. If you read down further he completes a 11k climb ride in under 23hrs, completely nuts. Had an idea about 10 laps of the Mt Washington climb. About 350km (only 175 uphill) and 9850m/33,316ft total climbin...

Re: The Big Loop Ride - July 20th

Curious if anyone is riding a winter bike or at least a rear fender with the expected wet weather or just wing it and eat spray for 9 hrs. I'm on the fence but willing to compromise to make the ride more enjoyable for the group. Thoughts?

Monday July 14 - Easy Tempo Ride

Anyone interested in a casual 40km B ride tomorrow? Route will be out to Matticks via Shelbourne and Lochside. Return around Elk lake and spin back along Interurban. Meeting at usual Richmond/Fort parking lot at 6am. Following coffee on the sunny Caffe Fantastico patio. Just can't pass up these fant...

Re: Something a Little Bit Strange!

Thanks for the heads up. Great, now I have to get an enhanced drivers licence ASAP to make this ride a reality.

Re: Something a Little Bit Strange!

Barton, any chance of a later ride date due the big loop ride happening the day prior? I don't think I could get back on the bike to ride 180km (google maps) so soon after such an effort.

Re: Great B1 ride

Admittedly though it was a tight squeeze with 3-4 riders rolling through. I should've attacked hard to get around faster rather than attempt to integrate back into the line. Also I much prefer someone speak up during the ride then grumble about it post ride or worse during a coffee stop. Camera view...

Re: Great B1 ride

Tried to come up the outside to get a better position until some nut  shouted something about cutting into the group and I realized I had squeezed the paceline a little and sat up in moment of embarrassment. Should have attacked off the front, perhaps next time.

Looks like Latoria was the only schedule change. Caleb Pike is still set up on the VCL site to run at 6pm. http://victoriacyclingleague.wordpress. ... -schedule/

Re: Caleb Pike Wednesday eve?

How about leave the switch bridge promptly at 5pm? Gives plenty of time to ride out and sign up without last minute rushing around.

Re: WD-40

Works great as a penetrating agent but can leave a slight residue that will offset the effectiveness of a good after treatment lube. Always had to use an extra degreaser to remove everything. WD is adequate for reviving an old stiff chain if soaked over night but with all the good enviro chain clean...
