Thursday: Women

6:00 am @ Oak Bay High School driveway off Cadboro Bay Road across from Epworth Street (2121 Cadboro Bay Road).

Roll out is no later than 6:05 am sharp.

Ride ends at 7:00 am. Post ride coffee @Pure Vanilla on Cadboro Bay Road.

This is a ride specifically aimed at women riders and the route drops to the waterfront on Cranmore, heads out to Arbutus Road, to Gordon Head/Ferndale, and back to Arbutus/Torquay and return home along the water (same route). It’s friendly, happy and we throw in a rotating paceline to practice what many have learned in the TS Women’s clinics over the years.

  1. Hi,
I’m moving to Victoria at the end of the month and noticed that you have a women’s only cycling club. Do you know if there are any plans for an organized event to participate in Rapha’s Women’s 100?

    Thanks,
    Christina

    • Hi Christina – apologies that I am only seeing your email now; normally I get an alert, but something has gone awry. We don’t have a ‘women’s only” club, but we do have a women’s ride once a week (6 a.m. on Thursdays). Both women and men ride all the other rides listed on our website. For the Rapha Women’s 100 in July, many of the club members do particpate; however it is normally coordinated by Trek Pro City, a local bike store/team. It was a great event last year (although the weather was a challenge!); you can likely find out more at http://trekbikesvictoria.com/#!/contact/. Based on last year’s popular event, I am sure it will happen for year #3!

  2. Hi there,
I did a clinic a while back, and was (still am) really really new to riding. Would the women’s ride be segemented into the “a, B , C groups” too? Or would Friday rides be my best bet right now?

    • Hi Hailey – the women’s morning ride is usually one group, due to numbers, and it’s a no drop ride. There is a new Tuesday evening women’s ride that we will split into groups if the numbers warrant. Please come out and try the rides, they’re a great way to develop your group riding skills!

  3. Hello,

I’ve started riding this summer on my own and would love to start cycling in a group. However, I’ve never done so. Would it be possible to ride with the women’s C group so I can learn how to ride with a group or is there some sort of prerequisite that I need before I can do that? Thanks so much 🙂

    • Hi Courtney – I am just double checking that I did in fact reply to you? I think I did, but it’s been a bit busy here with our organization for our youth team fundraiser coming up! We would love you to come out for our Thursday women’s ride! We just wound up our Tuesday evening women’s rides as it’s getting too dark. I am usually at all the Thursday morning rides as a coach, so if you are planning on coming, please feel free to give me a heads up at joannafox@telus.net and I will make sure I am there. We welcome all new riders! See you on the road, J
